Introduction Background While watching a video or two from Neil deGrasse Tyson (one of which I recently posted: Video: Neil deGrasse Tyson’s Keynote Speech for the 28th National Space Symposium (2012)) I saw a lecture from Carl Sagan in the sidebar, so I decided to give the original Cosmos narrator’s wisdom a spin. I was […]Continue Reading
Introduction I have just found this great video of an understandably irate Neil deGrasse Tyson (NdT) speaking the truth in this amazing video from 2012! The power of the innovation and inspiration gained from the NASA and our space program and its accomplishments is worth far more than the paltry 1 cent for each tax […]Continue Reading
Introduction For far too long has Humanity abused and violated the natural world causing irreparable harm which has resulted in the extinction of over 70% of the species that once roamed our planet as well as being the genesis for what may eventually lead to Humanity’s extinction – Climate Change. In developing my political platform […]Continue Reading
Introduction The Inner Level: How More Equal Societies Reduce Stress, Restore Sanity and Improve Everyone’s Well-Being(Pickett and Wilkinson, 2019) is an amazing book and is written as a follow up to their previous work Read: The Spirit Level: Why Greater Equality Makes Societies Stronger (Pickett and Wilkinson, 2009) which was also an amazing read. I […]Continue Reading
Introduction A fellow progressive friend of mine recommended that I read The Spirit Level: Why Greater Equality Makes Societies Stronger by Richard Wilkinson, Kate Picket because it dealt with inequality and how it explains most of our societal problems which sounded very interesting. After tearing through it over the last day or so I just […]Continue Reading
There is wonderful video titled A Message From the Future with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez which does a great job of broadly encapsulating my over arching political vision. She gets so much right it is scary! Please take the time to watch and to carefully consider it:Continue Reading
Introduction If you are not sure who are are some good potential candidates for the 2020 presidential election I will show you my current picks below. As painfully progressive as I am there are only 6 candidates that really matter to me. There are only 2 that will be viable candidates for the primary and […]Continue Reading
Introduction What is a Resource Based Economy? If you have no idea what a Resource Based Economy is or why we need one then you will want to check out my post the Cancer of Capitalism. I also have several other posts written on that topic which I will list below. Please take the time […]Continue Reading
I am going to introduce you to an interesting idea proposed by Kardashev called the Kardashev Scale. Here is a quote from science fiction and fantasy writer Veronica Sicoe which has a great introduction to this concept:
In 1964, Russian astrophysicist Nikolai Kardashev figured that civilizations can be categorized by the total amount of energy available to them. He defined three levels of civilizations based on their capacity to harness and use power. These have since been expanded by another four (in light of the increasingly wild speculations spawned by marrying mathematics and theoretical physics).
The Kardashev Scale, as it is called, now lists 7 levels of civilizations based on their power consumption, and implicitly on their technological advancement and extension.
Pursuant to a Facebook thread which was showing someone’s I Side With test I decided to take that and the Political Compass test and see where I stand during this electoral cycle. It seems about every 6-7 years take these tests to see how things have changed.Continue Reading
Pursuant to a Facebook conversation I popped into, I am writing this post to help to answer some questions asked about a Resource Based Economy (RBE). If you do not know what a Resource Based Economy is or why we need to transition to one, then check out my post: The Cancer of Capitalism and Its Antidote where I talk about this and provide a research path for you to learn more.Continue Reading
In several of my more technical posts that talk about politics, religion, economics, etc I talk about Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs (MHoN) and about Biopsychosocial (BPS) issues so I would like to take a moment to create a post on this to collect throughts, images, and links on these important topics so I can refer people to it and so they can learn about this which can greatly increase people’s understanding of many parts of our human experience as well as how our world works. And, honestly, I though I already had a post on this, soooo…Continue Reading
This is something I have posted and then deleted, much like my page The 7 Philosophical Pillars for Peace within Humanity. As with the previous document, I find myself driven to post this again so that I have it here so I can reference and work on it, and so that others can benefit from […]Continue Reading
I am writing this post to help people understand:
* why there is so much confusion and such a strong aversion to the word Socialism today
* why it is very, very misplaced
* how we need to reframe the socialism conversation.
Part of these problems are due to:
* our massively broken education system
* over a hundred years of governmental propaganda and continuously stoked fears
There are technical definitions and then there is the more colloquial usage. I will cover both in this article just for completeness and to help relieve some of the confusion.Continue Reading
In my post The 7 Philosophical Pillars for Peace in Humanity (7P3H) I talk about the fundamental parts of this idea, however, I would like to break this down a little more so you can understand how it all works together.Continue Reading
