The Kardashev Scale of Civilizations

I am going to introduce you to an interesting idea proposed by Kardashev called the Kardashev Scale. Here is a quote from science fiction and fantasy writer Veronica Sicoe which has a great introduction to this concept:

In 1964, Russian astrophysicist Nikolai Kardashev figured that civilizations can be categorized by the total amount of energy available to them. He defined three levels of civilizations based on their capacity to harness and use power. These have since been expanded by another four (in light of the increasingly wild speculations spawned by marrying mathematics and theoretical physics).

The Kardashev Scale, as it is called, now lists 7 levels of civilizations based on their power consumption, and implicitly on their technological advancement and extension.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs (MHoN) and the Biopsychosocial model in Psychology (BPS)

Continuum of Socialism

The Continuum of Socialism, an Explanation

I am writing this post to help people understand:

* why there is so much confusion and such a strong aversion to the word Socialism today

* why it is very, very misplaced

* how we need to reframe the socialism conversation.

Part of these problems are due to:

* our massively broken education system
* over a hundred years of governmental propaganda and continuously stoked fears

There are technical definitions and then there is the more colloquial usage. I will cover both in this article just for completeness and to help relieve some of the confusion.
