Content Writing Update for Jan 2023

I know you are all clamoring for more posts. Believe me, I want to post something of substance too. I have a bunch of things I am working on. My new amazing job has me getting done @ 6pm (18:00) each day which really cuts into any potential writing time. Also, currently I am working on taxes which is a long process because we have some small businesses and I no longer have 2 months of vacation where I would normally take a week of vacation do get my part done. So, now I have to fit in in where I can. =(

However, that being said, I will just give you a small taste of some of what I am working on so at least you have an idea of what may be coming eventually. These are the 4 works I am working on listed in the order that they are most likely to be published (except for the last one):

  1. The Tao of Entropy and Syntropy within Human Social Systems – This is one of the most recent posts I have started (Dec 2022) which is only 3k words and it is going to be a short but very powerful one. It will not get too much bigger than that – maybe 4k words before I am done. This post may radically change the way we think about things. -O =) I am super excited about this one.
  2. Daylight Saving Time (DST) Needs to End – I have been working on this off and on since about 2018. and it is currently 12k words large. I have a the first 75% edited and ready, but I have the last 25% left to go. The scientific studies just make my eyes glaze over which is a large part of why this has taken so long.
  3. Racism and Bullying in Our Schools – I have been working on this off and on since about 2019. and it is currently 12k words large. I have a the first 50% fairly well done, but there is still a lot of editing and writing to do in the last 50%. This is an important topic to get right.
  4. Humanity’s Journey Through Abundance to Scarcity and Back Again – This will most likely end up being book length (300 – 400 pgs) looking at homo sapiens’ journey from the Paleolithic through the Neolithic and into the Holocene and Anthropocene of today. I will be looking at creating a theory of how and why Humanity is currently competitive, hierarchical, and patriarchal, as well as a theory of how we solve this issue to make the world a better place. Currently, this giant work will be broken down into 3 100+page parts: (1) The journey from the Paleolithic to today looking at abundance and scarcity which itself will be broken into 3 parts. (2) A theory of why things turned out the way the did and a theory on how to fix it. (3) How to fix it which will concentrate on my policies and a shift to an RBE. I currently have about 300 pages of notes and writing started already – mostly notes which need to be distilled and integrated into the larger writing.

I have also started a bunch most posts ranging from talking about Resource Based Economies to Running for Office too. So, there is a lot of irons in the fire, I just need to get the time to write and edit them all .

New Website for The Interstellar New Deal

Yesterday, I returned from the Our Wisconsin Revolution’s (OWR) annual meeting and I am committed to running for office next year (2020). I am planning on running for our local School Board. I would wanted to run for County Board for the last several years, but I am currently working for the county, so I am not allowed to by law – conflicting interests and all that. Me sad panda. =(

However, as a part of the process of preparing to run for office, I have spun off my ginormous (~60 page) policy post: The Interstellar New Deal into its own site so it will have more room to grow and to attempt to turn it into an ebook of sorts if I can manage that. Its new URL is InterstellarNewDeal.Global:

New Home for My Blog!

Domain Move

So, I have finally moved my blog from its long time home for over a decade (ArionsHome.com) to its new domain here (www.FreeXenon.com), which is where it should have been all along, because my nom de plum all over the interwebs is Free Xenon. Yea! I am so excited. I feel like a just took a shower!

Cleaned Out the Link Spam Hack

I also had to pay to deal with my link spam site hack gremlin too in order to make the move, so I am really glad that this violation of my site is gone! I used Sucuri who dealt with that very quickly!

Site Migration by DreamHost

I had some great help from Dreamhost, my long time domain host of over a decade, I think, who performed the migration seamlessly for me from my personal shared hosting account over to my VPS account.

Dreamhost rocks!

Other Changes?

There have not been any other major changes made, but with the new VPS host my blog should seem a little snappier. I know I have felt a significant change on the back end which is good to experience.

Free Xenon!

I have recently been asked about the screen name/user name/handle thingy that I most commonly use on the internet which is ‘Free Xenon‘ or ‘FreeXenon‘. I wrote my reply so I thought I may as well repeat it here for all to know. There is more there that you would probably ever want to know, so…

Free Xenon comes from my days in the military. I was a part of Reactor Controls Division 22 (RC-22) who were a bunch of bitter and jaded sailors on board the USS Enterprise. The USS Enterprise (decommissioned in 2012) was the first nuclear carrier and bears 8 nuclear reactors in 4 groups, and was the only ship in the US fleet with this many reactors. Pretty much all others have only two reactors. If you can imagine the types of things that are talked about and imagined by a bunch of embittered sailors while at sea with a bunch of guys for 6 months then perhaps you can already see where this is going to go….

Xenon 135 is a fission byproduct that builds up to an equilibrium concentration during prolonged periods of reactor operation (>70 hours). Xenon is call a poison – meaning that its presence in the reactor core inhibits the fission process by absorbing neutrons. While our reactors are operating we will see coolant temperature go down a degree or two and then we will have to pull out the rods to bring the temperature to its median normal range. This a normal occurrence during our reactors operations.

So, our embittered and lonely sailors are sitting tiredly on their 10-2 (22:00 to 02:00 or 10:00pm until 2:00am) watch and as the plethora of gauges and meters sit unmoving, they start to envision Xenon as this little gnome or other spritely thing trapped in the malign reactor vessel as its prisoner. So, my shipmates started to crusade for the freeing of faerie Xenon from the evil Reactor Vessel. They created signs and set their desktop screen savers to say ‘Free Xenon! Free Xenon!‘. One day our division had a cake to celebrate something they arranged for one that was black and had a skull and crossbones on it which said ‘Free Xenon!!’ on it. At least that is how I remember it. =)

Free Xenon is just something that stuck with from my time in the Navy.
